Lil Kim is a beautiful ten-ish year old Weimaraner lab mix who was found wandering as a stray near Stone Mountain in April. Her general condition was surprisingly good considering her vagrant lifestyle, but her nails were inches long, so bad that she could hardly walk, and she has some very large tumors on her body. We pulled her from Gwinnett animal shelter where one of our sweet volunteers, Susan Ruelle, had gone to look at a different dog as a possible recruit for us, and instead found this wonderfully natured old girl with a grinning face and a waggy tail, despite her discomfort.

We had no idea how she would do when we pulled her from the shelter: new guidelines mean it’s hard to properly temperament test dogs with other dogs there, but we knew she had a gem of a personality and did not want to pass her over, so we pulled her thinking it may even have to be a temporary home if she didn’t work out.

The gamble paid off!

Since being at the cabin, Lil Kim has met so many volunteers of all ages and has been a delight! She loves to cuddle, loves to be rubbed on her belly and even chases squirrels in the wooded fenced yard! She may be ten, but the cabin has given her a new lease of life! She wakes up every morning with a spring in her step, ready to go on car rides and for walks in the woods.

Lil Kim was named after Frankie and Andy’s Place founder Penny Miller’s sister Kim, who died in 2001, and whose memory we honor by helping dogs who need us. She would be so happy to see this beautiful, proud, wise, old girl enjoying a life of freedom and luxury….

Welcome to the family Lil Kim, you’re gonna love it here!
