Cody
Cody came to us as a hospice care guest so that he could spend his final days in comfort, luxury and peace while we try to make him as comfortable as possible.
He has very poor mobility, and some very angry lumps and bumps all over his body, and when your body weighs 120 or so pounds, that is an awful big weight to lug around!
When he arrived yesterday, Lil Kim, who has pronounced herself the matriarch of the FAAP clan, went down to greet him, bestowed him with a sniff and a nuzzle, and then told him to get his ass up to the cabin cos she was looking for a playmate!
Cody tried to explain that he really didn’t feel up too much right now, but Lil Kim tried and tried to get some enthusiasm out of him. When she realized that he needed some space, she took to watching him and encouraging him as much as possible, joining him outside whenever he could manage the ramp.
Cody is exactly where he needs to be right now……he is thoroughly enjoying the back deck, and lays out there on his rug snoozing and listening to the birds, while one of us or our amazing volunteers gives him a massage. Thank you to all of our volunteers……Jennifer, Julien, Andrea, Tonya, Jeannie, Tanner and Tyler, Joe and Holly….all of you, for the time you’ve spent with him over the last 48 hours, it has helped him settle in enormously well. He truly is happy; you can see it.
He is on some good pain meds now for the first time in his senior life, so we are hoping it will really make a difference to him quickly.
It’s all about quality of life at the cabin….
Our aim is to bring them here, feed them well, love them well, let them rest, breathe and relax until their time is done and their journeys end is reached.
Those of you who volunteer here and touch these dogs’ lives do a remarkable thing…we cannot thank you enough. It’s a joy to have you around.
From the bottom of his heart, Cody says thank you. Lil Kim and Trudy say “Amen”.
